Unnecessary Question Mark

A question mark is not used to end a sentence that contains an indirect question. Here is an example.

“I wonder whether you could tell me something about this place?”

This sentence is not a direct question and does not require a question mark. To correct the sentence, change the question mark to a period.

I wonder whether you could tell me something about this place.
