Which should you use, wait down, weigh down, or weight down? The phrasal verb weigh down means to make someone heavy and unable to move easily. To weigh someone down means to make a person feel worried and unhappy because of problems, responsibilities and duties. The phrasal verb weight down means to make something heavier by putting a weight on it. To be waited down is incorrect.

Incorrect: He weighed down the bag and threw it into the river.
Correct: He weighted down the bag and threw it into the river.
Incorrect: How wonderful it would be not to be waited down by the pressures of the world.
Correct: How wonderful it would be not to be weighed down by the pressures of the world.
