Prepositions
A preposition is a word or group of words that we place before a noun, noun phrase or pronoun. The preposition expresses a relation between the word that precedes it to the noun, noun phrase or pronoun that follows it.
| We talked to Agnes. |
| Ivy got on the bus. |
| I stood beside him. |
Here are some examples of prepositions: about, after, against, along, around, at, before, below, beside, between, by, down, for, from, in front of, in, inside, into, near, of, on, onto, out of, outside, over, past, round, since, through, to, toward, towards, under, up, with, within, without.
Exercise Pick out the prepositions in these sentences.
